Amazing Weird Fish With Transparent Head

With a head like a fighter-plane cockpit, a Pacific barreleye fish shows off its highly sensitive, barrel-like eyes--topped by green, orblike lenses--in a picture released today but taken in 2004.

The fish, discovered alive in the deep water off California's central coast by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), is the first specimen of its kind to be found with its soft transparent dome intact.

The 6-inch (15-centimeter) barreleye (Macropinna microstoma) had been known since 1939--but only from mangled specimens dragged to the surface by nets.

The beady bits on the front of the Pacific barreleye fish in this picture released February 23, 2009, aren't eyes but smell organs.

The grayish, barrel-like eyes are beneath the green domes, which may filter light. In this picture the eyes are pointing upward--the better to see prey above in the darkness of the barreleye's deep-sea home.

The barreleye lives more than 2,000 feet (600 meters) beneath the ocean's surface, where the water is almost inky. The transparent- headed fish spends much of its time motionless, eyes upward, MBARI scientists discovered while watching the barreleye fish from a remotely operated vehicle

Kurokami Episode 7

This is my favorite episode in Kurokami so far.

In this episode, we see another new pair of Mitotsumitama and contractee, Yakumo and Riona. Among all Mitotsumitama, I like Yakumo the best. He looks really cool when he fights. ^-^ As for pairings, I like Steiner and Excel the best. They may look very different but they seem to understand each other the most.

Anyway, finally, Keita is behaving more like a man. He was more like a wimp in the previous episodes. Hopefully, he can keep this up.

Summary
Akane is going to Okinawa with Kuro and Keita. Hiyou's underling has placed a Voice WireTapping Device in Keita's place and he calls Hiyou to inform him of their plan to go to Okinawa. Meanwhile, Hiyou is angry to see his 'playground' destroyed. He orders his underling to catch the culprit and he also decides to go look for Kuro.

The next day, on their way to the aiport, Kuro, Keita and Akane bumps into Yakumo and Riona who are pursued by some Tribal Ends. Yakumo manages to fight off the Tribal Ends single-handedly. Yakumo is a Mitotsumitama and he serves Kuro, who is actually a Princess of their Tribe. Yakumo is surprised that Keita is Kuro’s contractee as Keita is someone with very low Tera. Riona then boasts that she is a Master Root, created by the Kaionji Group. She escaped from Kaionji Group, bumped into Yakumo and became his contractee. The two of them accompanied Kuro, Keita and Akane to the airport.

At the airport, Kuro shares with Keita about her Tribe and her painful past. The place she lived in is called the Holy Land and it used to be a peaceful place. However, one day, her brother, Reishin killed their mother and many of the other tribe members. Suddenly, Hiyou shows up in the middle of their conversation. Hiyou declares that Kuro is his and vows to kill Keita. Kuro tries to protect Keita but Hiyou is simply too strong. Hiyou then provokes Keita to synchro with Kuro. Keita thinks about Shingo and that makes him hesitant to synchro. However, seeing Kuro getting overpowered, Keita manages to muster some courage to synchro with Kuro. Kuro immediately uses Exceed but even Exceed is not enough to scratch Hiyou.

Yakumo and Riona then come to their rescue. They immediately synchro and fight Hiyou. Yakumo barely manages to keep up with Hiyou, despite Hiyou not having his contractee by his side. Hiyou then decides to leave and before he does, he tells Kuro that he will let her meet his contractee soon.

While Keita and Kuro are waiting for their flight, Keita tells Kuro that it's alright for her to cry if her heart is in pain. He also promises to fight by her side until he repays Kuro for saving his life. Just before their departure, Excel and Steiner come to see them off. Excel gives Keita a ring, 'Thousand', which acts as a catalyst for the contractee to use special powers. To master its power, Keita needs to practice daily. She then asks Keita to bend down and she comments that he has a better look and gives him a kiss on his cheeks. Before she leaves, she tells Keita that only the contractee can save the Mototsumitama when they are in a dire situation.

Bleach Episode 208

Young Byakuya!! So kawaii!~~
Young Gin! So young and tiny.. and he's already a badass! (O_O)
Mayuri! More scary looking than now! (._.)

There's quite a bit of talking in the first half of the episode. It gets a little boring at times but it certainly gives us a good background on how the Seireitei operates.

I love how Urahara fights off the prisoners barehanded. We seldom get to see Urahara fight but whenever he does, it always awesome.

The next few episodes will get very exciting as the incident is drawing nearer. Can't wait!

Summary
On their way to the Maggots' Nest, which is in the vicinity of the 2nd Division, Urahara reveals to Hiyori that he was the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Division of the Covert Ops, the Detention Unit. His main duty was to be in charge of the imprisonment and supervision of all criminals within Seireitei. His other duty was 'Special Detention' where his responsibilities were to investigate, apprehend, and lock up those whose thoughts or actions are judged to be a threat to their fellow Shinigami. They are kept in the Maggots' Nest.

After a long walk, they finally reach the Maggots' Nest. The place is very dark and Hiyori compares the facility to a underground prison. Urahara feels otherwise as even though the prisoners are not allowed to leave the facility grounds, they are free to do whatever they please within it. When Hiyori asks Urahara what the prisoners had done, he replies nothing and says that they are merely those who have been identified by Seireitei as 'Dangerous Elements'. Hiyori disagrees with the practice and feels that it's unfair. Suddenly, a few prisoners start attacking Urahara. He manages to fight them off easily with his bare hands - one of the prerequisites required to become the Commanding Officer of the Detention Unit.

After that, Urahara brings Hiyori to a prisoner who is kept locked in a solitary cell. His name is Mayuri Kurotsuchi, the current Taichou of the 12th Division. Urahara asks if he's agreeable to leaving the Maggots' Nest. Mayuri thinks that it's a mad suggestion and refuses as he is satisfied with his life in the Maggots' Nest and sees no reason to leave. He asks Urahara why he wishes for him to leave, and Urahara reveals that he has a need of his abilities. Urahara expresses his desire to create an institute never seen before in Soul Society: 'The Research and Development Institute'. Urahara wants Mayuri to be the Vice Taichou of the institute. Urahara then tells him, 'If I were to die, then the institute would all be yours'. Mayuri smiles and says he truly is an unpleasant sort of man.

The story shifts to a young Byakuya training in the Kuchiki mansion. His grandfather appears and tells Byakuya to end his training as someone has come to see him. When he's about to ask who the visitor is, Yoruichi appears beside him. Byakuya immediately attacks her, saying how some day he will be head of the Kuchiki clan, and how he does not need to play with the likes of her. In response, Yoruichi steals his hair band using shunpo, and taunts him. Byakuya then uses his own shunpo to chase after her. His grandfather comments that Byakuya would improve greatly if he didn't get work worked up so easily.

Meanwhile, Ukitake is seen talking to Kaien about his proposition of promoting him to Vice Taichou, which Kaien humbly declines. Kaien replies there are many people more worthy than him. Ukitake then begins talking about a genius who takes only a year to graduate from the Shinigami Academy. He is about the same age as young Byakuya, and is now in the 5th Division. The focus then shifts to a child standing beside a dead Shinigami. Aizen compliments the child on his skills. He asks for the child's name one more time, and he replies 'Ichimaru Gin'. Aizen asks Gin how he finds their 3rd Seat and Gin replies 'Not good at all. Not even worth talking about'.

With that, the pendulum swings to 9 years later, where the incident is drawing closer.
