Nodame Cantabile: Paris Hen Episode 8
It's Examinations time! Nodame, Kuroki and Paul (Yaki Trio) perform very well in the Chamber Music Examination. They get Perfect score. Individually, Nodame, Frank and Tanya all get Tres Bien (Triple Good - Best Score) for their piano exams. Hmm.. It seems kind of easy to get Tres Bien. Kuroki's and Paul's results are not told but I believe they get Tres Bien too since Chiaki is very impressed by the both of them and even wants them to audition for Roux Marlet Orchestra.
Rui finally hears Nodame's piano. She is shocked to hear how good Nodame is. It seems like Rui has been under-estimating Nodame.
This is an average episode for me. I'm getting sick of the Mongoose appearing in every single episode. I ♥ Mongoose but I don't see any relevance in it appearing in Nodame Cantabile: Paris Hen.
There's more to look forward to in the next episode. Nodame will be performing her first recital! (^_-)-☆
Episode 8
After the performance, Kuroki tells Chiaki that he's really touched by Chiaki's 'Never give up' spirit. He thinks that Chiaki is just like a boxer who never gives up. (haha.. Chiaki really looks like a boxer! I think Kuroki is trying to cheer Chiaki up but fails!!)
On the way back, Rui suggests a party to help Chiaki cheer up. Nodame does not want to join them as she has practice early the next morning.
Suddenly, Rui's mother appears. She is angry with Rui as she feels that Rui has lied to her. She hits Chiaki too as she has heard rumors of Rui hanging out in Chiaki's room. (What a violent mother!!) She then pulls Rui away and insists on bringing her back to America.
Back in the room, Chiaki tells Nodame about Rui. Rui started performing since a very young age. Her recent performances have been below par. Despite that, she always appears enthusiastic but that may not be her real self.
Nodame feels sorry for Rui and wept. Chiaki consoles her by putting her head on his shoulder and asks her not to dwell too much. He also asks her not to rush 'her piano' too much.
Nodame expresses her desire to play with Chiaki in an orchestra. Chiaki replies, 'Let's work hard so that we'll be called the golden pair'. Nodame takes that as 'Vow of Love'!
The next day, Chiaki goes to the Roux Marlet Orchestra's Library. Roux Marlet Orchestra has more than 130 years of history and all the history is engraved and stored in the library. He wants to take a look at the scores used by Stressman.
Chiaki overhears the conversation between Theo and the concertmaster. They are talking about the audition for Roux Marlet Orchestra.
Chiaki expresses his desire to be a judge too. The concertmaster obviously disagrees but Chiaki says that Depreist asks him to take care of it. The concertmaster has no choice but to agree.
Actually, Chiaki is lying! =^.^=
The Yaki Trio performs in front of Chiaki to seek advice.
They perform Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano by Francis Poulenc.
Paul and Kuroki impress Chiaki with their play.
Midway through the performance, Nodame suggests Yaki Trio to perform in Kansai-style. =.="
They play it real fast and surprisingly it sounds pretty good.
It's meal time. Paul starts eating first. Nodame reprimands him for eating soba the wrong way.
She demonstrates to Paul the real way of eating soba.
Nodame calls 'soup splashing out on other people's hand' courtesy. (This is Nodame's unique definition of courtesy! =X)
Chiaki invites Kuroki for the audition for Roux Marlet Orchestra.
Pual wants to go for the audition too but the orchestra is not looking for a Bassoon player. They are only looking for a Fagot player. Paul is very disappointed.
After clearing the misunderstanding, Rui's mother gives Rui 30 minutes to look for Nodame and Chiaki to apologize for what happened the other day. When Rui reaches the hostel, she is shocked to hear 'Nodame's piano'. She turns around and leaves.
It's Chamber Music Examination Day! Yaki Trio performs well and gets perfect score!
It's Piano Examination Day!
Midway through, Nodame starts to soar with her piano.
The examiners are bewildered by Nodame's piano. They like her bold and interesting style but finds her piano emotionally unstable. One of the examiners comments that the session is more like a recital rather than an examination. That give Charles Auclair sensei an idea.
The results are announced. Nodame gets Tres Bien for her piano examination. She happily hugs Chiaki.
As a reward for her good results, she get 20 seconds for smelling Chiaki! (O.O;)
During dinner time, Nodame announces that she will be performing her first ever recital in a church located at Bretagne.
Chiaki is shocked!
