Hunter X Hunter Manga to Return on 4 January 2010 - Finally!!!
Next month marks the 1 year anniversary of Hunter X Hunter's hiatus. The good news is Weekly Shonen Jump has announced that Togashi-sensei will restart his Hunter X Hunter manga in next year's combined 5th/6th issue (4th January) . Togashi-sensei published his last run of the manga from 6th October 2008 to December 2008. It was a very short run so I hope the next run will not be so short. Of course, I do hope that he will not go on hiatus again but I'm trying not to give myself too much hope regarding that. The manga plot stops in the middle of the ant chimera arc and I can't wait for chapter 291 to be released.
Anyway, recently I just finished re-watching Hunter X Hunter (anime + OVAs). Hunter X Hunter is one of my favorite shonen anime mainly because of its vibrant plot and lovable characters.
Story: (9/10) – Great
Gon is a young boy living with his aunt on Whale Island. He always thought that his father's dead until a chance meeting with the Hunter Kaito. Through Kaito, Gon learns of the rich legacy of Hunters. Gon also learns that his father, Gin, is not only alive but is in fact the greatest Hunter in the world. It is with this knowledge that Gon ventures out into the world with the goal of becoming a Hunter and finding the whereabouts of his father.
The anime series and OVAs consist of many different interesting arcs and my favorites are the Hunter test arc, Kurapica vs Kumo (Spiders) arc and the Greed Island arc (I wanna play Greed Island too!).
Character: 10/10 - Awesome
What I like best about Hunter X Hunter is its characters. The interaction and bonding between the different characters make this series a joy to watch.
Here are some of the characters I like:
Gon - He's one of my favorite Shonen Jump hero. He's so cute!!!!!! ^-^ I like the fact that he's not the conventional 'Shonen Jump Hero'. Gon is virtually never the strongest character in the series and I think that's partly due to his young age and partly due to the fact that his goal isn’t to be the strongest but to better himself and to find his dad.
Kurapika – He's so cool and I love his character development! However, it's sad that he has not appeared since more than 100 chapters ago. (T.T)
Hanzo – He's a ninja and his weakness is he's too talkative!
Shalnark– I like how he fights intelligently.
Art/Animation: 8/10 – Good
Hunter X Hunter anime series was shown in 1999 and the OVAs are shown years later. As a result, the animation quality of the OVAs are much better than that of the anime series. All in all, the animation is pretty good but not spectacular.
Music: 9/10 – Great
It has one of my all-time favorite openings - Ohayou by Keno.
Enjoyment: 10/10 - Awesome
Watching Hunter X Hunter was an emotional roller coaster filled with intense anticipation. Not many shonen anime has managed to make me feel this way.
Overall: 10/10 - Awesome
This is an awesome series! I love the characters and can feel their passion, their pain and their joy. To me, this is what really makes a great anime. ♥

I'm back to being a Narutard dattebayo!
I dropped Naruto a few years ago because of the fillers. Naruto fillers were mostly uninteresting and lame, so even though I really liked Naruto then, I decided to drop it.
Recently, I decided to pick up Naruto again as over the past 2 years, I have seen many comments about Naruto Shippuuden being much better than Naruto. Just yesterday, I finally caught up with Naruto Shippuuden (episode 136) and I must agree that it's much better than Naruto. There is more action, funny moments, sad moments, and Akatsuki!! Also, the fillers are not as bad as those of Naruto's.
Characters
Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden feature an extensive cast of characters. My favorite characters are Kakashi sensei, 4th Hokage (Namikaze Minato), Naruto, Gaara, Shikamaru, Deidera and maybe Sasuke.
Kakashi sensei remains as my top favorite. He's so mysterious and cool, and I love how he takes care of everyone around him.
4th Hokage (Namikaze Minato) aka Konoha's Yellow Flash looks super cool and hot. I hope to see more of him through flashbacks.
I used to think that Naruto was very noisy (actually, he still is), but his never-give-up spirit has impressed me a lot.
I like Gaara the first time I saw him. His character design is very cool and I like his powers.
Initially, there's nothing very special about Shikamaru. However, he really shines in Naruto Shippuuden.
I feel sad that Deidera is dead. Though I'm not into his art, I like his personality.
I used to like Sasuke a lot. He's cool and good looking, and I like this kind of character. However, as the series progresses, I begin to dislike him more and more. I think his obsession with revenge is the main reason. I can understand why he's so obsessed with revenge (too obsessed to see the truth) but I don't understand why he chose to believe in the words of those evil people (*spoiler* for example, he believes in Uchiha Madara and starts working for Akatsuki =.=||).
Gintama - Movie (Finally!!)
Finally!! A Gintama movie!
The new film will be based on the Benizakura story arc (episodes 58-61) of the series.
'Gekijoban Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen' will be released by Warner Bros. some time during the Golden Week 2010 (April or May).
Ahhh.... I wish I can be in Japan during that period of time next year!
Though Benizakura-hen is one of my favorites, I hope it's not going to be simply a retell of the arc as I think that will be pretty boring.

First Impressions: Aoi Bungaku, Fairy Tail, Thriller Restaurant and Miracle☆Train
Recently, I have been spending most of my free time re-watching some of my favorite old anime series. To be frank, I hardly have any mood to watch the ongoing series. Among the many Fall series, I've only started watching a few. Here is my impression of them:
1. Aoi Bungaku (Episode 1)
What's Hot?
So far, 5 episodes have been released and I only just finished watching the first episode. I'm not going to watching the rest as it's night time now.
Anyway, this series is an adaptation of six Japanese literary works by famous authors:
No Longer Human (Ningen Shikaku) by Osamu Dazai
Run, Melos! (Hashire, Melos) by Osamu Dazai
Kokoro by Natsume Souseki
Hell Screen (Jigoku Hen) by Ryunosuke Akutagawa
The Spider's Thread (Kumo no Ito) by Ryunosuke Akutagawa
In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom (Sakura no Mori no Mankai no Shita) by Ango Sakaguchi.
The first adapted story is No Longer Human and I must say the story is intriguing and creepy. If I'm not mistaken, mangaka Takeshi Obata (Death Note) is the artist behind No Longer Human. Takeshi Konomi (Prince of Tennis) and Tite Kubo (Bleach) will also be involved with the rest of the production. I'll definitely continue watching this but I'll probably do it during daytime.
What's Not?
If you are already feeling depressed, please don't watch. It'll only make you feel worse.
2. Fairy Tail (Episodes 1 - 3)
What's Hot?
The only thing I like about Fairy Tail so far is its main characters, Natsu and Gray.
What's Not?
Hmm... the first 3 episodes turned out to be quite a disappointment. Though it's not entirely boring, it's not very interesting either. In terms of action, there's nothing I have not seen before. In terms of humor, it's only average. However, despite the negative comments, given the success of the manga, I believe this series has the potential to be good.
3. Thriller Restaurant (Episodes 1 - 2)
What's Hot?
This looks like it's meant for kids but for some reason I'm enjoying it! Don't be deceived by the lame-looking ghosts as this series is actually quite entertaining. Thriller Restaurant is supposedly a horror series but I actually find it more amusing than scary. The stories are all very short and I guess that's the reason why I don't feel bored while watching this series.
What's Not?
If you are hoping to have a good fright watching this series, I think you'll be disappointed.
4. Miracle☆Train ~Ouedo-sen e Youkoso~ (Episodes 1 - 4)
What's Hot?
I admit I am superficial! The only reason I'm watching this is because of Roppongi Fumi and Shinjuku Rintarou.
What's Not?
The plot is boring and the jokes are sometimes funny, sometimes lame.
