Arakawa Under the Bridge - full of randomness!

Arakawa Under the Bridge is yet another plot-less anime series. However, it's good for a few chuckles and I do like the eccentric cast of characters. The gags, randomness and the unique cast make this anime fun to watch.

Anyway, a second season was announced at the end of episode 13 but the release date is not yet confirmed.

Plot: (6/10) – Fair
It's basically about how Kou (aka Recruit or Ric) gets along with a group of eccentric people living under a bridge.

Characters: (8/10) – Good
The characters are funny but I don't really find them lovable. There are many characters with masks on and I do hope to see their true faces one day... hopefully in the second season.

Here are some characters I like:

Sister - cross-dressing FTW (or maybe not?!) Either way, a Sister with a scar on the face looks cool!

Hoshi - I wonder where I can get the mask from.. (o.O)

Recruit - He's the typical serious guy who tries to be perfect in everything he does.

Art/Animation: (7/10) – Fairly Good
The animation is typically SHAFT. I'm not a fan of SHAFT-style.

Music: (6/10) – Fair
I don't like the Opening themes but the Ending theme is not too bad.

Enjoyment: (8/10) – Good
It's quite a funny series. It makes me laugh once in a while.

Overall: (7/10) – Fairly Good
I'm not a fan of SHAFT works but Arakawa Under the Bridge is quite fun to watch.

Hakuouki - Shinsengumi bishounen!

If I were to ignore the fact that the main female character is extremely irritating, frustrating, ignorant and useless (the super typical damsel in distress type), Hakuouki is a pretty good series. The number 1 charm point of Hakuouki is of course its cast of bishounen! . Though 12 episodes of Shinsengumi guys are not enough, it's definitely a good break from the irritating female character. A second season was announced at the end of episode 12 and it will start airing in Oct 2010. I can't wait for it! ^^

Plot: (6/10) – Fair
Based on a female dating sim game, Hakuouki takes place during the late shogunate period of the Edo era. Yukimura Chizuru, whose father works in Kyoto as a doctor practicing western medicine, travels to the imperial capital to search for him after losing contact. There, she’s attacked by a blood-thirsty monster and saved by the Shinsengumi. She stumbles upon their dark secret in the process and is taken into custody by them as a result, but they help her search for her father as the mysteries continue to unfold.

The main story about Shinsengumi, oni (demon) and the irritating girl is not too bad but the execution is somewhat lacklustre. I suggest you don't expect too much from the story.

Characters: (8/10) – Good
It could have been 10/10 if not for the girl. She simply gets on my nerves.

Anyway, let's forget about her and move on to the Shinsengumi guys!

Here are some characters I like:

Hijikata - whether it's Gintama or Hakuouki, my favorite Shinsengumi character is Hijikata! He's so charming!

Saitou - he's simply too beautiful... I love the way he draws his sword!

Harada - I like swordsmen but a spear-wielding guy is cool too!

Okita - Okita in Hakuouki is not as sadistic but is as lovable as the one in Gintama!

Art/Animation: (8/10) – Good
One can easily tell that more attention is paid to the male characters designs. The result is the Shinsengumi eye-candies! Though I wouldn't say that character designs are unique, it's definitely easy on the eyes. Also, the animation for the battle scenes is pretty well-done.

Music: (8/10) – Good
I like the Ending theme ('Kimi no Kioku' By Mao) more than the Opening theme 'Izayoi Namida' by Aika Yoshioka). Both themes suit the mood of the series well.

Enjoyment: (8/10) – Good
I enjoy watching the Shinsengumi guys a lot!! The battle scenes are pretty cool too!

Overall: (7/10) – Fairly Good
Frankly, this is not a series for everyone. If you want a series with a good story, please do not even bother to start on Hakuouki. However, if you like bishounen, this is the perfect series!

Working!! - fun to watch

Working!! started out really good and funny. The idea of a minicon (someone who likes cute, little things), a loli, a violent androphobic (man-phobic), a sadist, a lesbian, a lazy manager, a run-away, and a Sanji-lookalike working together in the same family restaurant is interesting. However, the jokes are sometimes repetitive and after a while, it became not so interesting. Nevertheless, Working!! is still fun to watch.

Plot: (6/10) – Fair
Put it simply, it's about a group of not-so-normal people working together in a family restaurant. There's really not much of a plot.

Characters: (8/10) – Good
A good well-rounded cast to cater to different audiences.

Here are some characters I like:

Satou - He's cool and sensitive. He's the ideal type of boyfriend!

Takanashi - He looks so cute when he's young!~

Yachiyo - It's really cool to carry katana around. She looks cute whenever she unintentionally p*ss off Satou. However, she's a irritating whenever she talks about Kyouko! =.=

Souma - Sadist FTW!

Inami - If only I can punch as well as her.... (o.O)

Art/Animation: (7/10) – Fairly Good
The art is simple and yet colorful. However, character designs do lack a little originality.

Music: (8/10) – Good
Both the Opening and Ending themes are sung by the voice actors. The songs are catchy and suit the mood of the series.

Enjoyment: (8/10) – Good
Though the jokes are sometimes repetitive, it's a fun show to watch. Somehow, I feel good and relaxed after watching the episodes.

Overall: (7/10) – Fairly Good
If you're into slice-of-life comedies, watch it!
