Soul Eater Episode 51 End

Again, I'm not exactly impressed with the way Maka defeats Kishin. As much as I like the theme of courage, I do find it a little cheesy. It's kind of weird and funny to see the all-powerful Kishin freaked out all of the sudden and even get defeated. It certainly shows how insecure Kishin is.

Also, it's shocking to see blades coming out of Maka. Even though it's known since the beginning that Maka has both meister (Mama) and weapon (Papa) blood, I definitely did not expect Maka to suddenly turn into a half-human half-weapon. Frankly speaking, initially, I thought that Soul had possessed Maka. (p_q)

All in all, this is a pretty decent anime original ending. The part I like the best is how they use courage to counter madness. It's quite impactful when Kishin says, 'Really? Then it's (courage's) the same as madness.'

Plot: 7/10
Characters: 8.5/10

Entertainment Level: 8/10

Art/Animation: 8.5/10

I like the first half of Soul Eater much better than the second half. It was entertaining and funny until when they stopped following the manga and started to go their own way. Well, this is inevitable since the anime is supposed to end and the manga is nowhere near the end. Anyway, plotwise, Soul Eater anime may not be the best, however, in terms of animation, I do like how they animate the action sequences.

Summary
Maka and Soul are shocked to find Kid and Black Star seriously injured, and Kishin still standing. They enter into Soul Resonance, but their combined powers ain't enough to hurt Kishin. They then decide to put their everything into Demon Hunter. With Demon Hunter, they manage to cut Kishin. However, the cut on Kishin's body heals almost immediately. Kishin then fires a blast at Maka, but Soul jumps in to shield Maka from the blast. With Soul down, Maka is the sole fighter standing. Kishin fires another blast at Maka. If Maka dodges, the blast will hit Soul. Hence, Maka chooses not to dodge but to use her own body to protect Soul.

Despite getting knocked down, she gets back on her feet. To Kishin's surprise (mine too!), Maka has blades coming out of her own body. With her new form, Maka surges forward and attacks Kishin relentlessly. Kishin is shocked to see no fear in Maka. After some exchanges, Kishin realizes that the reason for her lack of fear is because she's fighting unconsciously and the reason for her new form is because she has weapon blood in her even though she became a meister. Kishin knocks Maka out of her unconscious state by inflicting great pain on her. He tries to convince her that she’s got nothing left to defeat him. Instead of feeling discouraged, Maka actually feels relieved and this freaks Kishin out. Blak Star, Kid and Soul wake up from their unconsciousness and explain that Maka has courage to fight fear.

Remembering shaja’at (courage), the phrase which was written on the postcard from her mother, Maka is determined to fight on and she puts all her courage into her fist. Kishin doesn’t understand a thing and starts panicking. He finds himself unable to stop Maka from charging at him and punching him in the face. As Kishin’s face cracks, she explains that courage isn't anything special and it's something everyone has. Right before Kishin explodes, he realizes that courage is the same as madness.

In the aftermath, the sky clears up and everything seems fine again. Kid warns that as long as there are people in this world, there'll be negative feelings and a new Kishin will show up in the future. However, Maka feels that it’s alright as they’ll be around when it happens and also everyone has courage in their heart.
