Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episodes 4 and 5

After watching 5 episodes, it seems like witches really do exist and Beatrice is indeed behind everything. WTH!! I'm very disappointed with this revelation as I firmly believe that someone among the 18 people is behind the murders. However, since we are only at the 5th episode, I believe things are not as simple as it seems. I'm totally behind Battler and I'm looking forward to his wit battle against Beatrice.

What's Hot?
Battler hits Maria's head. -Well done!!

A weird smell begins to fill the mansion. Kanon and Chiyo go to investigate the boiler room. They hear somebody inside, Kanon rushes in and gets stabbed in the chest. - This scene makes me confused. What makes him think that his death will bring down Beatrice's roulette? Also, since Chiyo is nearest to the crime scene, is she the culprit?

Kinzou's body is found in the boiler room. He's burnt to death. - I have my doubt about this. He may still be alive. He's the most mysterious character so far.

Battler finally realizes that the murders follow the inscription next to the portrait. - I've realized it a couple of episodes ago and I've been waiting for someone to realize it.

A letter from Beatrice mysteriously appears. Since Genji, Nanjo, Chiyo, or Maria are the only possible suspects for planting the letter, Natsuhi forces them to leave the study room. - It's 100% Maria's doing!!! However, I'm not sure why they keep closing up on the canned mackerel, which Natsuhi placed on the table.

Later that night, the phone rings, and Natsuhi picks it up, only to hear Maria singing on the other end. Natsuhi, Battler, George, and Jessica rush downstairs only to find Genji, Nanjo, and Chiyo murdered and Maria standing in the corner singing. - I believe that Maria is not the murderer but I'm sure she knows something about the murderer.

Maria insists that Beatrice is the murderer, but Battler refuses to accept her explanation. Maria also reveals that she's alive because of the scorpion charm Battler returned to her earlier. - Maria is super irritating. I hate it whenever she goes 'uu'.

As they argue, Natsuhi jams the door in order to lock everyone inside the room. Outside the room, she yells out to Beatrice. By the time everyone breaks out of the room, they find Natsuhi dead. - Suicide? I'm pretty sure Natsuhi tries to shoot someone and not herself. How does the bullet rebound back to her? Is she shot by her own bullet? Sigh... I can't think of any answer.

As the time to solve the mystery runs out, golden butterflies fill the room and the remaining survivors are 'killed'. - I'm not sure whether they are really dead.

A letter in a bottle supposedly written by Maria is found by two guys. - I’m very curious about the contents of the letter. I hope it will be revealed soon.

The next instant, everyone is shown alive and joking about their bad ending. However, everyone except Battler is convinced that the culprit is a witch. When Battler insists that there is a logical explanation for everything that had happened, Beatrice appears in front of him and challenges Battler to prove that the murders were not caused by magic. Battler's disbelief also apparently causes Shannon and Kanon to die once again. Refusing to be dissuaded, Battler accepts her challenge. - WTH!!! Game reset? Is this going to be like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? I really like Higurashi so I hope Umineko will not fail me.

Later, Beatrice discusses the events with a rival witch, Bernkastel, who plans to lend her own powers to assist Battler. - Hmm... so witches really do exist?! Anyway, Bernkastel looks like the older version of Rika from Higurashi.

What's Not?
- Maria!! - I think it's important to the plot for her to turn creepy. However, I can't stand her 'uu'. It's irritating!
- Genji reveals that Beatrice was Kinzou's lover. - Isn't Beatrice a witch? Are they one person or two different persons? Who is the real Beatrice? This is so confusing!

Cross Game Episodes 16 and 17

Though I find the game quite boring, I'm happy that the farm team wins. I love the p*ssed off look on Coach Daimon's face! This is a very good ending for a coach who is over-hyped.

As for episode 17, I love the interaction between Yuuhei and Kou. They work surprisingly well together in those light-hearted moments.

What's Hot?
Momiji and cat - the song is really cute.

Even though Kou is playing quite well, Aoba is still disappointed with his performance. - Good kick! ^-^

The suspicious looking old man is the Chairman of Seishuu High School. - No surprise at all. I expect him to be someone important.

Aoba hits a single, then steals second and third before scoring on Senda's sacrifice fly. - Girl power!!

During the final inning, Yuuhei asks Coach Daimon if he wished he had better batters in his lineup, such as Miki. Yuuhei also tells Coach Daimon that Kou is the best pitcher they have played against all year. - I love his p*ssd off look!

Farm team wins! - Hurray! The evil coach is finally fired!

After the game, Acting Principle and Coach Daimon are fired, and most of the transfer players also leaves Seishuu. Only Yuuhei stays at Seishuu and he begins living with the Kou because the dorm is closed down. - Their personalities are poles apart but they surprisingly get along quite well under one roof.

In front of Yuuhei, Kou admits that he likes Wakaba. - I think this is the first time Kou actually explicitly admits that.

To get the five most persistent boys to stop asking her out, Aoba goes on a date with all five. - Great idea! This is a good way to get rid of persistent guys.

Kou finds out about Junpei's past from Aoba. He also learns that Yuuhei is trying to reach Koushien in his place. When Aoba asks Kou whether he's serious about going to Koushien, he answers yes as he wants to make Wakaba's last dream come true. - I wonder if they will reach the goal in the 2nd or 3rd year.

What's Not?
Cross Game is great as a romance comedy and slice of life series. However, as a sports series, I think it lacks impact and excitement. I'm actually happy that the game between the First team and Farm team has ended as I rather watch the characters in their daily lives than during games.
